Home Description: 55 Laurens St # H

Built in 1818 the James Jervey House is located historic and charming Ansonborough. After extensive period restoration this 1 bedroom 1 Bath unit was a marvel when featured in the 2021 Preservation Society of Charleston Home and Gardens tour. The intricate wood detail painstakingly restored to showcase the decorative carvings on the mantle and crown molding. The blue painted walls are period correct in the living room with 12 foot ceilings while the wood burning fireplace can be converted to gas if desired. The historic fireback was manufacutred by The Charleston foundry that went out of business in 1820. This fireback has been in place for 204 years. Only one other is known, in the Museum of Early Southern Decorated Arts (MESDA) In Winston Salem, NC.
